Ending employment · From $690

Ending someone’s employment? Get the steps and the letters right before you say a word.

Notice, final pay, what goes in the letter, what to keep on file. These are easy to get wrong when you’re under pressure. We set out the steps, write the letters, and list the notice and final pay items you need to work out. You get them within five working days of sending us your paperwork. If it’s urgent, tell us on the call.

01

The problem

You need to end someone’s employment. It might be a probation outcome, a redundancy, or a resignation you have to respond to. You don’t want to get the notice, the pay or the paperwork wrong.

02

Who it’s for

Owners and managers with no HR department and no lawyer on call.

03

What we do

We talk through what has happened, read the contract and the records, and set out the steps in order. Then we write the letters and meeting records that suit the situation.

04

What you get

Word files in your organisation’s name, a list of notice and final pay items to work out, and a checklist of what to keep on file.

How it works

01 · Free call

Thirty minutes by Zoom or phone. What has happened, what you’re thinking of doing, and whether we’re the right fit.

02 · Send us what you have

The contract, the award or agreement that applies, and any records so far.

03 · We write it

The steps, letters and meeting records come back to you within five working days.

04 · Walk-through

We go through it with you, including what to say, what to send and what to keep.

What sets the price

Simple cases start at $690. Redundancy, and cases with a lot of history, are quoted before we start, and the written quote is the fee. If you’d rather do it yourself, the Lifecycle Compliance Blueprint ($97) includes termination letters and a redundancy consultation letter.

Common questions

Is this legal advice?

No. It’s HR support and general information. If dismissal is close, or the person has already made a claim, talk to an employment lawyer first.

Does someone on probation still get notice?

Generally, yes. The Fair Work Ombudsman says employees on probation are still entitled to notice, or pay instead, and to be paid out their unused annual leave. Check the current Fair Work Ombudsman information and the award that applies.

Can you represent us if there’s a claim?

No. We help with the steps and the documents beforehand. If a claim has been made, talk to an employment lawyer.

Will this protect us?

We can’t promise that. We can’t say how the person will respond, or how a tribunal would see it. A fair process and records made at the time put you in a better position.

Why not use a template?

You can. The Lifecycle Compliance Blueprint ($97) has termination letters and a redundancy consultation letter. We’re for when you want the letters written for this situation, and the steps checked.
